The Sun claims he proposed by "writing a romantic poem and filling the ground floor of their Los Angeles mansion with candles and roses".
Spears is reported to be wearing a flower-shaped diamond ring on her wedding finger.
The couple are reported to be planning a low-key wedding in Hawaii.
A source said: "Britney's desperate to settle down again and have more children. But she is very traditional and didn't want to start a family with Jason until they'd tied the knot."
Spears was married to Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2006. In 2004 she married childhood friend Jason Alexander; the marriage was annulled after 55 hours.
