Hollywood heavyweight Matt Damon has opened up for the first time, about his father’s battle with cancer.
The ‘Adjustment Bureau’ star spoke out at a fundraiser last night for Massachusetts General Hospital's Cancer Care Center, the hospital where his father has been undergoing treatment for multiple myeloma, which is a cancer of the blood.
E! Online reports that Damon said: "My family is so grateful for the care you've given us."
"It's deeply humbling to see how many people here are committing their lives to helping others."
"We've lost some close personal friends to cancer in recent years, but I never thought it would happen to my dad, the marathon runner...It sucked."

Kent Damon is currently in remission and in a great mood. Talking to the crowd, Kent praised his son saying: "We try not to take this celebrity deal too seriously,"
He continued, telling them a story about a newspaper article relating to Matt’s Academy Award nominations for ‘Good Will Hunting’ in 1997.
"There was a picture of Robert Duvall, Peter Fonda, and Dustin Hoffman—then there was a picture of my 27-year-old son. He didn't belong there with all these seasoned actors!"
Kent said Matt was "all you could ever for ask for in a son. It's been a wonderful ride being his dad."
Matt then took to the stage after his father, joking: "How do you follow that? My dad's biggest fear is public speaking, and I'm like, 'You've got cancer man!'”
