It's goodbye Dr Derek Sheppard as Patrick Dempsey announces he's to quit Grey's Anatomy.
In the new issue of the Italian edition of Vanity Fair, Patrick Dempsey confirms that the next Grey’s Anatomy season will be his final one on the hugely successful US medical drama.
“It’s gonna be my last,” the 45-year-old told the magazine. “I do not know what’s going to happen to the other characters, but for me it’s done.”
Dempsey added that the idea of hanging up his stethoscope at Seattle Grace after seven years is “bittersweet because it’s been great and a great part of my life. But I can’t see me doing it anymore.”
Co-star Ellen Pompeo may be unsure about whether she’ll stick with Grey’s Anatomy after her contract expires next season - but it would seem that her onscreen hubby has made up his mind it’s time to go.
