Music icon Elton John and his husband David Furnish have become the first gay parents to be shortilsted for the celebrity dad of the year award.
The pair, who had their son Zachary via surrogate mother last Christmas, are in the running for the Premier Inn Celebrity Dad of the Year award which will be held next month.
According to The Star, organisers said that the award will “reward the celebrity dad who has impressed the nation by balancing a hectic public life with the demands of parenting.”
Other dad’s up for the coveted trophy include Gary Barlow, Wayne Rooney, Peter Andre and Jonathan Ross.
