Grammy award winning singer Pink has hit out against the use of painted horses on the set of Selena Gomez's latest music video.

‘So what’ singer Pink took to Twitter yesterday to vent her anger after seeing first hand several animals covered in paint on the set of a music video shoot in California.

She tweeted: “If there are any animal activists around Malibu - at Leo Cabrillo State Beach, there are horses being painted for a stupid music video. Shame... Artists should be more aware and responsible for their actions."

It would appear that Pink was not initially aware that the video was for Disney star Selena Gomez’s next single ‘Love You Like A Love Song’ and she soon had to deal with the backlash from disgruntled fans who accused her of unfairly targeting the 18-year-old.

Pink responded on Twitter by saying: “oh lord, THAT'S whose video it was? Disney fans unite. here we go...whether u r a fan of mine or whomEVER'S, i won't stop speaking out about animal cruelty. i've taken responsibility in the past, so should she (sic)."

Despite Pink's concerns, no evidence has surfaced suggesting that Gomez's team breached The American Humane Society's guidelines for painting and using make-up on animals.

There has been no comment yet from Gomez about the issue.
