Queen Elizabeth II has completed her public engagements on the opening day of her four-day State Visit to Ireland, the first time a British Monarch has visited the Republic.
This afternoon, Queen Elizabeth II carried out one of the most significant engagements of the trip, when she joined President Mary McAleese in laying wreaths at the Garden of Remembrance in Dublin City Centre.
Their visit to the memorial followed an official welcoming ceremony at Áras an Uachtaráin, the first stop-off on the Queen's State Visit.
There Queen Elizabeth II was welcomed by President Mary McAleese and An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, and had lunch.
Her last public engagement for today was a visit to Trinity College where she viewed the Book of Kells and met members of staff as well as students.
Queen Elizabeth II and her husband the Duke of Edinburgh landed at Casement Aerodrome before noon, and were welcomed by Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Eamon Gilmore.
Queen Elizabeth II was dressed in a jade green dress and coat by Stewart Parvin and a hat by Rachel Trevor-Morgan.
