Susanna White, who was to have directed Saoirse Ronan in the upcoming adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's 'The Host', is no longer attached to the project.

Variety reports that White, whose credits include 'Generation Kill' and 'Nanny McPhee Returns', has been replaced by Andrew Niccol, who wrote the screenplay of Meyer's book.

Niccol's other credits as director and writer include 'Lord of War', 'S1m0ne' and Gattaca'. He also wrote 'The Truman Show'.
'The Host' tells the story of Melanie, a young woman whose mind is besieged by a parasitic alien.

Earlier this week it was reported that Ronan cannot star in Peter Jackson's 'The Hobbit' due to scheduling conflicts.
