Actress and model Mia Amber Davis, probably best known for her role in the hit comedy, 'Road Trip', has died at the early age of 36.

Plus Model magazine confirmed the news yesterday but had no information about the cause of death.

"It is with great sorrow that we are confirming that our dear friend and plus size model Mia Amber passed away just a short time ago," a statement from the magazine reads.

"We are deeply saddened by this tragedy."

The editor, Madeline Figueroa-Jones, added: "Mia was a super model and industry leader because it was her love for the women she represented that kept pushing her when the industry itself did not embrace her."

However, Davis's husband, Michael Yard, told TMZ that the actress underwent routine knee surgery on Monday. Yard spoke with Davis Tuesday morning and said she sounded normal and in good spirits.

Yard was in New York on Tuesday when he got another phone call informing him that his wife had passed away.

He told the site he immediately hopped on a plane to L.A. and added: "I want to know what happened to my wife."

Davis was best known for her part in the 2000 comedy 'Road Trip' starring Tom Green, in which she played the role of Rhonda - DJ Qualls' on-screen girlfriend.
