Corrie actress Katherine Kelly has explained on This Morning why her decision to leave the soap was announced so early before her departure.
The actress will remain in her role as Becky McDonald until next year, however the shows producers revealed that she will be leaving last month.
The star said that they decided to release the information at the Soap Awards so that she could talk about it to the press.
Speaking on This Morning about possible departure storylines, Kelly said: "That was the first thing I said," she recalled. "'I think I'm ready to go Phil but please don't kill me off!'. I'd hate to see the end of Becky. I really would. I've watched Corrie all my life and I'm a viewer as much as anyone, I'd just hate that."
