Justin Bieber has apologised to an airline stewardess after reportedly misbehaving on a flight to Melbourne over the weekend.

According to Metro, Bieber was left red-faced when he ignored the seat belt sign and a flight attendant insisted that he buckle up as the plane was preparing for take-off.

The 17-year-old apologised after a short exchange with the Qantas hostess when he tried to saunter down the aisle from business to economy as his flight prepared to taxi.

The teenage pop superstar is currently touring Australia with his 'My World' shows and boarded a plane in Sydney to fly to Melbourne.

The reported exchange was confirmed by Australian union boss Paul Howes, who was sitting behind Bieber on the flight.

He wrote in a series of posts on Twitter: "I was sitting right behind him...he did say sorry after being quite naughty...

"He was a little naughty but did apologize and the flight attendant wasn't out of order."
