Tom Cruise is reportedly set to follow in Gwyneth Paltrow's footsteps with a guest appearance in 'Glee'.

According to Metro, a source said the actor is in talks to play "a failed and jaded pop star who is now teaching a glee club at a rival school".

They added: "The producers love the idea that Tom might create a character just like Les Grossman in 'Tropic Thunder'.

"His dance rendition to Flo Rida’s Low went down so well with audiences and they know something like that would be just as popular, if not more so, on Glee."

The show's bosses are apparently so desperate to get Cruise on board they are willing to allow the 'Mission Impossible' star to help create the character.

They added: "They are willing to let him have a lot of input into his character just to try to get him on the show.

"They know that Katie and Suri are big fans of Glee too so they are hoping this may also sway his decision."

The 48-year-old is said be receiving vocal coaching ahead of his role as a singer in the film version of musical 'Rock of Ages'.
