There is an Irish contender for an Ivor Novello Award this year, with Villagers among the nominees.
The Villagers' song 'Becoming a Jackal', the title track from Villagers' debut album of the same name, is shortlisted in the Best Song Musically and Lyrically category.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Villagers frontman Conor O'Brien said of the nomination: "It feels awesome. I'm surprised, I'm very humbled by it.
"I've just got back from touring from Istanbul, so to come back to something like this is a total culture shock!"
Everything Everything ('MY KZ, UR BF') and Foals ('Spanish Sahara') complete the shortlist.
Everything Everything are also nominated for the Album Award for 'Man Alive', along with Bombay Bicycle Club ('Flaws') and Plan B ('The Defamation of Strickland Banks').
The nominees for Best Contemporary Song are Katy B ('Katy on a Mission'), Tinie Tempah ('Pass Out') and The XX ('Islands').
The winners of the awards, which recognise "excellence in British and Irish songwriting and composing", will be announced at ceremony in London on Thursday, 19 May.
