'EastEnders' star Shane Richie has revealed that he is due to become a father again soon.

Speaking to Hello magazine, the actor, who plays Alfie Moon in the show, said that his wife Christie is now eight months pregnant with a baby girl.

The couple already have two children together and Richie also has two sons from his marriage to Coleen Nolan.

Richie said that the couple chose to keep the pregnancy news secret because of the controversial 'Eastenders' baby swap storyline.

He said: "People see me as Alfie Moon. They would keep asking me about the cot death storyline and it would have felt strange tagging on the end, 'Oh, and by the way, we're expecting a baby'. If people asked about Christie, I said she'd put on a bit of weight."

He also praised the plot, saying: "I think they've handled the storylines brilliantly."
