'X Factor' star Mary Byrne has gone straight to number 1 in the Irish album charts with her debut record 'Mine & Yours'
‘Mine & Yours’ has outsold new releases from Britney Spears and Radiohead this week and has also knocked Adele’s album ‘21’ off the top spot.
Mary heard the great news as she prepared for a TV appearance in the UK. On hearing of her success the singer claimed she was, for once, "speechless."
"I burst into tears when I heard the news! I think it will take a little while for the news to sink in, I can’t quite believe that I am at number 1 in the album charts. It’s a real honour for me and I want to thank everyone who supported me and bought the album, I really appreciate it."
She went on to add that there will be major celebrations when she gets back to Ireland.
"I love this album and I hope people enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it. There will be great celebrations as soon as I get home to Ballyfermot!"
Mary is currently travelling around the UK as part of the X Factor Finalists Tour which will end in the middle of April. She is confirmed to play the Aviva Stadium with Neil Diamond on Saturday 25th June 2011.
