Following a false start when McFly's trip to Ireland was cancelled when one of the band members checked into rehab, they say they are excited ahead of Monday's O2 concert.

After breaking up with his then girlfriend, The Saturdays star Frankie Sandford, Dougie Poynter checked into rehab and has said that it was "one of the best things" that he has ever done.

Speaking about the band's upcoming concert in Dublin's O2 Arena, front man Tom Fletcher said: "Ireland's always been good to us.

"We always get nostalgic when we play there because it was the very first proper show we did. Seven years ago when we supported Busted.

"It always holds a special place in our hearts.

"It's certainly been a journey. We were boys when we started - I was 17 at the time."

Speaking about their journey as a band he compares it to 'Spinal Tap': "That film is so spot on...We've definitely had our fair share of tour disasters.

"The other day, we took a tour bus to a show in Amsterdam and we didn't even make it out of London before we broke down. Then it broke down again!

"Then it transpired there wasn't proper cutlery so we had to eat our dinner with teaspoons, while the bus stank...because the toilet was leaking!

"Then on the way back, the toilet ran out of water so it didn't flush. And we had extra crew with us, so everyone was sitting on any floor space they could find!"
