MTV has ordered a full season of the US version of British teen comedy 'The Inbetweeners'.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the network announced that 12 episodes of the comedy starring Bubba Lewis, Joey Pollari, Zack Pearlman and Mark L Young will run on the channel in 2012.

The series is a Stateside adaptation of the hit UK sitcom telling the story of four sex-obsessed teenage friends, played in the original by Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas.

It's yet another British show that's getting the stars 'n' stripes treatment, following in the recent footsteps of 'The Office' and 'Shameless'.

Commenting on the decision, MTV's head of programming David Janollari said: "It's got an incredibly strong and authentic young voice. We were really successful in adapting it for our audience and making it sound like a quintessentially American suburban experience."
