Britney Spears facing law-suit?

Trouble for Miss Spears?
Trouble for Miss Spears?

Pop-star Britney Spears is caught up in a new legal mess over a perfume deal.

According to Radar Online, the ‘Femme Fatale’ singer is being sued for $10m by the company, Brand Sense Partner, LLC, that helped her to secure a perfume deal.

In what appears to be a legal document obtained by the web-site, the company intends to sue Spears and her father Jamie on five grounds including breach of contract, fraud and deceit and declaratory relief.

The documents further accuses the Spears family of “blatant circumvention of their contractual obligations,” stating that a contract agreed in 2004 with Elizabeth Arden promised Brand Sense 35% commission on any fragrance products sold.

Brand Sense then alleges that Spears, who released her new album only this week, breached the contract in early 2010 by apparently entering into a new agreement with the cosmetics firm without informing them. The firm also argues that the singer allegedly contacted Elizabeth Arden early last year to request that all royalties were sent directly to her.

The legal document, which was filed at the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles, accuses the Spears family of being “sneaky” and “underhanded” in their marketing move and also includes a request for a jury trial.

Representatives for Spears and her father have not yet commented on the claims, and with a new album to plug, we're not surprised if they want to keep this one quiet.
