Michael Palin has given Irish tourism a boost by revealing that Ireland is one of his favourite travel haunts.
The travel writer and presenter said in an interview with The Star: "My first trip over was on my honeymoon in the mid-60's.
"It's such a beautiful country but on our honeymoon, I have to say, it rained almost continuously for four days.
"We were just married though, so we went to bed very early!"
The Monty Python legend, who will be a guest of the Dublin Writers' Festival in May, added: "I like the Irish attitude to life - lots of jokes - and I always get into conversation with someone."
