Daniel Furlong, the 13-year-old soprano whose mentor was Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh, has won the 'All Ireland Ireland Talent Show' 2011.
The Wexford boy soprano gave the performance of the night when he sang 'You Raise Me Up' and he cried tears of joy when he was crowned as this year's winner.
Representing the East he was 6/1 to win according to the bookies but despite those odds he was confidant of winning the €50,000 prize long before the finals.
According to The Star, after he was named as the winner, he joked that he would have to make good on his promises to bring his family on a holiday plus he had promised to buy a car for both his brother and his sister.
He laughed: "I've said it now so I can't back out!"
The St Peter's College student also said that he would pay to have his voice trained.
Despite 'The Daily Show's' Dáithí O'Sé being in pole position to win, having three acts in the final, it was Furlong's mentor, Ní Chofaigh who was celebrating last night in Dublin's The Helix.
X Factor's Olly Murs also entertained the audience at the event, belting out two hits to the packed crowd.
