A record £74million had been raised for Comic Relief as the BBC's Red Nose Day coverage concluded last night.

A host of famous faces took part in a range of activities and sketches throughout the day, with Susan Boyle, David Cameron, Gordon Brown, Keira Knightley, Justin Bieber, Kim Cattrall and Paul McCartney all featuring.

The total amount of money raised, £74,360,207, is the most ever raised on the night in Red Nose Day's 23-year history, and the figure is likely to rise.

One comedy sketch on last night's show saw 'Gavin and Stacey' star James Corden, in character as Smithy, pick up singer George Michael in his car as he tried to rally celebrities for a trip for Africa.

Another skit saw ex-Prime Minister Gordon Brown dancing alongside boyband JLS.
