The backlash over Janine's treatment of Whitney helped 'EastEnders' stay above 8.5 million viewers on Tuesday evening.
The soap was watched by 8.65m in the UK as the majority of Walford turned on Janine over Whitney's disappearance.
Lauren and Ricky are shocked and outraged that Janine doesn’t know where Whitney is this week. Lauren loses her temper with Janine and she retaliated by pinning her up against the wall.
Janine tried to cover claiming that Whitney is probably hanging out with her new mates but the others aren’t convinced and worry about Whitney and how vulnerable she is.
At first Janine feels mortified but then she turns on the group and says they all saw how out of control Whitney was but no-one tried to help her. Ricky and Carol feel guilty but push the blame back on Janine.
