'The Guard', the new Irish comedy-thriller starring Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle, has been chosen as part of the programme for next month's Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
Written and directed by John Michael McDonagh, 'The Guard' is set in the west of Ireland where Sergeant Gerry Boyle (Gleeson) finds his routine disrupted by the arrival of Wendell Everett (Don Cheadle), an FBI agent on the trail of cocaine smugglers.
The film, which will be screened in the 'Spotlight' section of the Tribeca programme, is one of a number of Irish productions at the festival.
The Hideaways, an Irish-French co-production directed by Agnès Merlet, will receive its world premiere at Tribeca.
Described as a "whimsical fable about learning to live with the curses - and blessings - we inherit", the film stars Rachel Hurd-Wood, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Susan Lynch, Harry Treadaway and Kate O'Toole.
Also receiving its world premiere at the festival is 'The Lotus Eaters', the directorial debut of Dubliner Alexandra McGuinness which follows Alice (Antonia Campbell-Hughes) and Felix (Benn Northover), two friends searching for something more in the hedonistic social scene of London.
The Tribeca Film Festival runs from 20 April to 1 May.
