Charlie Sheen has backtracked on his criticism of his former 'Two and a Half Men' co-star Jon Cryer and offered "a little bit of a half-apology".

People reports that Sheen had called Cryer "a turncoat, a traitor and a troll" earlier this week.

But the troubled actor told the K-EARTH 101 radio station in the US: "I'll apologise to Jon right now. I was in a mood and I threw that out to somebody. I didn't know they - well I kinda knew they were gonna print it. Yeah, I knew they were gonna print it. I confuse myself."

Sheen then added: "It's a little bit of a half-apology. An apol."

Asked for the reason behind his negative comments about Cryer, Sheen replied: "The reason I was upset is because I didn't get a text or a phone call or anything saying, 'Hey, dude, back off, I got your back, or you got my back or there's a back involved'."

Sources told People that Cryer has been in contact with Sheen.
