Former 'EastEnders' star and reigning 'Strictly Come Dancing' champion Kara Tointon is to make her West End debut in a production of George Bernard Shaw's 'Pygmalion'.

The Press Association reports that Tointon will star as Eliza Doolittle opposite Rupert Everett's Professor Henry Higgins.

The play opens at London's Garrick Theatre in May.

Reacting to the news that Tointon had been cast in the play, her 'Strictly Come Dancing' co-star Tina O'Brien said: "That is great news. She will make the best Eliza, she will be brilliant."
