'Grey's Anatomy' star Ellen Pompeo has revealed some details about the show's upcoming musical episode, and believes fans "are going to love it".
Warning: spoiler alert!
In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Pompeo said: "I don't want to give too much away but the way it unfolds isn't typical.
"There is some singing and dancing but basically we're taking songs that the show has made famous like The Fray ['How to Save a Life'] and [Snow Patrol's] 'Chasing Cars' and those kind of songs and we're singing them. So it's the music you're used to hearing."
The actress said that co-star Sara Ramirez (Callie Torres), a Tony Award winner for 'Spamalot' on Broadway, "does the bulk of the singing".
Pompeo, who also sings in the episode, said that she was not keen on the idea when it was first announced.
"When ['Grey's Anatomy' creator] Shonda [Rimes] presented the idea, of course I did my eye roll and the 'Oh, brother' that comes along with it. And then we read it and I have to say, I think people are going to love it."
The episode will air on American television on 31 March.
'Grey's Anatomy' continues on RTÉ Two on Tuesday nights.
