Hermione Granger, Emma Watson's fictional character from the Harry Potter movies, has been named the most popular dream date for teenage readers, according to a survey carried out to mark World Book Day.
Almost a quarter of the youths surveyed picked Hermione, while 14% nominated Jacob Black (from Twilight) and Edward Cullen(also from Twilight) received 10% of the votes.
The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole was chosen by one in ten adults as their favourite book, while 31% of teenagers went for JK Rowling’s Harry Potter books as there most loved.
The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, George Orwell's 1984 and The Diary of Anne Frank were the only books on to appear on both lists.
