Mariah Carey, Beyoncé Knowles, Usher and Nelly Furtado are reportedly amongst the singers being pressured to return performance fees paid by members of Muammar Gaddafi's family.
According to her Twitter page, Furtado spoke out against the Libyan dictator and revealed that she was going to donate the performance fees that she received.
The 32-year-old singer wrote: "In 2007, I received 1million$ from the Qaddafi clan to perform a 45 min. Show for guests at a hotel in Italy. [sic]
"I am going to donate the $."
The Sun reports that a publicist for Beyoncé has silenced critics who spoke out against the singer receiving $1 million (€721,000) for a New Year's Eve performance in 2009.
Her publicist told the American Associated Press that the R&B singer donated the funds to Haiti earthquake relief efforts over a year ago.
Usher and Mariah Carey, who have also performed at events hosted by members of the Gaddafi family, have also faced calls to return their fees.
