The fashion designer, John Galliano, is reported to have checked himself into an American rehab clinic after being sacked by Christian Dior for making anti-Semitic comments.
The designer is said to be seeking treatment for alcohol problems at The Meadows Clinic in Arizona.
Galliano, who had worked for Dior since 1996, has apologised unreservedly for causing any offence.
Dior is going ahead with its Paris Fashion Week show on Friday despite firing him.
French prosecutors have charged Galliano with making racist comments - an offence that carries a sentence of up to six months in prison and a €22,000 fine.
