TV hosts Podge and Rodge have revealed that they are health conscious and do actually have a nice side by making a new bowel cancer awareness movie for the Irish Cancer Society.

In 'My Brother's Bowels', Rodge confides to Podge that he is worried about his health and describes the symptoms he is experiencing.

Podge then insists Rodge should visit a doctor and after a colonoscopy Rodge receives the good news that he does not have bowel cancer.

Commenting on the brothers' latest project, Joan Kelly, Nursing Services Manager with the Irish Cancer Society, said: "Consumer research conducted by the Irish Cancer Society shows that people feel very embarrassed when faced with having to discuss symptoms that might be associated with bowel cancer.

"This has become a serious obstacle for people to opening up a discussion with relatives and friends, calling the National Cancer Helpline and visiting a GP. Basically we need to open up the 'national conversation' on bowel cancer.

"In view of this the Irish Cancer Society wanted to embark on a campaign that would neutralise any embarrassment and inform people as to the early signs of bowel cancer.

"Podge and Rodge's hugely successful, cheeky humour has created a mass following in Ireland. Given their comic style, we hope to deliver the important message that symptoms which might indicate bowel cancer should not be embarrassing to talk about and early detection is key."
