BBC’s ‘The One Show’ was taken off air last night after a fire alarm led to the evacuation of the studio.
During an interview with actress Tamsin Greig, presenters Alex Jones and Matt Baker were forced to switch to a video package after the fire alarm went off and a recorded voice told them not to use the lifts during the evacuation.
Once the video package finished TV screens were black for several seconds before the BBC slate appeared with the continuity announcer apologising for the interruption.
Later Alex revealed on her Twitter that a cup of tea was the cause of the commotion saying "We're all safe and well!!! Somebody was warming their tea up and the microwave set off the fire alarm! That's live telly for you!"
'Nigel Slater’s Simple Suppers' filled the gap in the schedule last night.
