It is reported that 'Coronation Street' character Jim McDonald (Charles Lawson) will resort to desperate measures in his bid to win back ex-wife Liz (Beverley Callard).

The Sun reports that Jim tries to buy the Rovers Return from son Steve (Simon Gregson) so that he can run it with Liz.
But when he realises he does not have the money to complete the deal he decides to rob a building society.
The paper claims that Jim tells the cashier he has a gun, but the employee pushes the panic alarm and soon the building is surrounded by armed police.
Jim holds the people in the building society hostage and demands to speak to Liz.
When she arrives he tells her he has let her down too many times and plans to shoot himself.
The Sun reports that the storyline will be screened at Easter.
