The Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Pat Carey, has announced the channel and service line-up for the new SAORVIEW digital television platform due to be launched in May 2011 by RTÉ.
The channels and services to be made available on SAORVIEW are the following: RTÉ One, RTÉ Two HD, TV3, TG4, RTÉ News Now, 3e, RTÉjr, RTÉ One + 1 and RTÉ Digital Aertel.
The following radio services will also be available on SAORVIEW: RTÉ Radio 1, RTÉ 2fm, RTÉ lyric fm, RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta, RTÉ Choice, RTÉ Pulse, RTÉ 2XM, RTÉ Gold, RTÉ Chill, RTÉJnr and Radio 1 Extra.
Mary Curtis, RTÉ's Director of Digital Switchover, said: "The SAORVIEW channel and service line-up announced today by Minister Carey represents great news for Irish television viewers.
"For the approximately 340,000 households who currently receive just the four main free-to-air TV channels this represents a significant increase in choice.
"The SAORVIEW service will be launched at the end of May this year. We will be beginning a comprehensive public information campaign in mid March to explain how people can easily make the switch to the new SAORVIEW service and enjoy the benefits of Irish free-to-air digital television long into the future."
