Award winning singer Bruno Mars has escaped a jail sentence after a Las Vegas judge accepted his plea bargain for drugs offences.
After his stellar performance at the Grammy’s on Sunday night Bruno Mars appeared in court yesterday on charges from an incident that occurred in Las Vegas last September. Mars was arrested at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and was found to be in possession of 2.6 grams of cocaine.
The ‘Just The Way You Are’ singer pleaded guilty to the charge but was dealt a lucky hand when the judge decided to accept his plea bargain. According to Digital Spy Mars lawyer Blair Berk told the court; “He is going to stay out of trouble for 12 months.”
Mars who picked up the award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance was given 200 hours' community service and must attend drug counselling sessions as part of the plea deal. He was also fined $2,000.
If Mars sticks to the terms of his plea deal, the charge will be wiped from his record. However, the Daily Mail claims that he could face up to four years in prison if he steps out of line again.
