Geldof slams Irish politicians and media

Ireland has been betrayed: Geldof
Ireland has been betrayed: Geldof

Bob Geldof has blamed businessman and politicians for “betraying” Ireland in a characteristic outburst. “We’re f***ed,” said Geldof. “Ireland has been ruined by one of the most grotesque betrayals by a political and business class that I’ve ever seen but I believe the media are part of it because they failed to really say anything aside from a few columnists.”

The singer and humanitarian, who has just released a new album, made his comments in a recent interview with the RTÉ Guide. “One of the few benefits of age is that sometimes you’re proved right,” he said. “There’s a song where I sing “the purple and the pinstripe” and that’s the businessman and the priest. They were up to it, they were up to it and they were so f***ing up to it over the past ten years of grotesque incompetence and unbelievable stupidity and a great deal of venality.”
