'The Daily Show's Claire Byrne will present RTÉ Radio 1’s political and current affairs programme, 'Late Debate', for the duration of Election 2011.

Speaking about the show, which will begin on Monday 31 January, Byrne said: “I’m looking forward to being right at the heart of all the political action with RTÉ Radio 1’s election team.

"It’ll be nice to be back on the airwaves again after a five month break from radio”.

During her thirteen years as a broadcaster she has previously worked as a News Anchor with a number of channels.

She also co-presented Newstalk's breakfast programme for four years and in that time covered the 2007 General Election.

In the lead up to the election, 'Late Debate' will provide discussion and analysis of the key players, the campaign trails and the party campaign tactics.

RTÉ Radio 1’s 'Late Debate' will air Monday to Thursday from 10pm to 11pm.
