'EastEnders' star Shane Richie has praised the soap, which was a big winner at the National Television Awards last night, for pushing boundaries.
Speaking on ITV2's 'National Television Awards Party', the actor, who plays Alfie Moon in the soap, said: "I just think that each year 'EastEnders' pushes the parameters."
"They certainly did it last year with the burning down of The Vic and the crack story, and also what's happened recently. I think the storylines are very dramatic and the audience buy into that."
Speaking of the show's success as the awards, he said: "It's great for 'EastEnders' tonight. I'm really happy for our exec producer Bryan Kirkwood because he's only just come in new to the job, same time as me and Jessie [returned]."
