It has been announced that the wreckage from the iconic tram crash from Coronation Street is set to find a home in a museum.

The crash was the centre-piece of the ITV soap’s 50th anniversary celebrations earlier this month.

Digital Spy reports that the wreckage will be on display in Manchester’s Museum of Science and Industry.

Museum Director Tony Hall told the Manchester Evening News: "We were approached a couple of weeks back as to whether we'd like to have the tram from the crash.

"As the icon of the 50th anniversary programming we felt it appropriate to have it. It will be the section that smashed into Rita's shop."
