ITV has announced that the 'Coronation Street' set is to be completely rebuilt as part of a new production complex.
The Press Association reports that the broadcaster is moving from its current Manchester home to MediaCityUK in nearby Salford Quays in 2012.
As part of the development ITV said it will build a "bespoke production and studio centre" for the soap.
ITV Chief Executive Adam Crozier said: "'Coronation Street' is an incredible brand and as we celebrate its 50th anniversary, it's fantastic news that we are able to invest in the construction of a modern production centre to ensure that the nation's best-loved soap remains at the top of its game for another half a century."
