The Foo Fighters have been announced as one of the headlining acts set to play next summer's Oxegen festival.
According to the official Oxegen website, the Dave Grohl-fronted band are the first act confirmed for the event which is due to take place at Punchestown Racecourse in Kildare.
The Foo Fighters began work on their seventh studio album in August of this year and in a recent interview Grohl said: "I want to play the album at night, live in front of people. It's a festival album because it…rocks!"
With the album release date expected to be in late spring, early summer next year, Oxygen will be the Irish fans first chance to hear the new material live.
A limited number of tickets for the festival go on sale tomorrow Wednesday 15 December at 9am ahead of the event which will take place between Thursday 7 and Sunday 10 July 2011.
