X Factor voting figures are released

'The X Factor' voting figures have revealed that winner Matt Cardle topped the public vote every week, except for the first live show.

Irish singer Mary Byrne topped the vote on week one, with Matt placed second in the public votes.

ITV also revealed that 15,448,019 votes were cast across the whole run of this year's series.

The figures also revealed that Mary Byrne did get more votes than Cher Lloyd when they were both placed in the bottom two at the semi-final stage of the competition, with the judges later opting to save Cher and send Mary home.

The figures for this year's semi-final were: Matt Cardle - 35.84%, Rebecca Ferguson - 20.22%, One Direction - 17.38%, Mary Byrne - 14.99% and Cher Lloyd - 11.57%.

When the voting lines were frozen to eliminate the first act in the final, the percentages were: Matt Cardle - 39.92%, Rebecca Ferguson - 25.71%, One Direction - 17.38% and Cher Lloyd - 15.83%.

When the lines were frozen on Sunday night to eliminate the next act, the percentages were Matt Cardle - 39.83%, Rebecca Ferguson - 32.80% and One Direction - 18.54%.

The final figures were Matt Cardle - 44.61% and Rebecca Ferguson - 38.63%.
