This year's 'X Factor' winner Matt Cardle has revealed that he has Irish roots.
Speaking to the Sunday World, Cardle said of his Irish ancestors: "They left for England during the potato famine.
"We were originally 'McArdles' but we lost the 'Mc' over the years."
The Daily Mail reports that apart from his £1m recording deal, Cardle now stands to earn £5m in 2011: £2m from record sales, £1.5m from commercial deals, £1m from the 'X Factor' tour and £500,000 from modelling contracts.
