Katie Waissel’s mum Diana has reportedly said that X Factor rival Matt Cardle is jealous of her daughter.
According to New! Magazine the two X Factor contestants fell out after Cardle, 27, accused Waissel of selling a story to a newspaper about them sharing a bed.
Last week, Cardle confessed he wanted Aiden Grimshaw, 18, to stay in the competition rather than Waissel.
She has also had to deal with death threats and now has round-the-clock security plus she is reportedly under investigation by show producers after she appeared on an album that was recently released in the US.
In an interview with the magazine, her mum Diana, 50, insists her 24-year-old daughter has a "heart of gold" and is not the drama queen viewers see on screen.
She said: "She has a wonderful personality. She doesn’t deserve all this negative press but she’s a tough cookie."
When asked how her daughter gets on with Cardle, she said: "She’s not there to make friends – she is there to do a job. You can’t trust any of them. They need to learn to keep their mouths closed because they’re going to get into trouble."
In response to earlier reports that Waissel was planning on quitting the show, she said: "She’s never said she wanted to quit.
At the start, it was a bit daunting – she needed a bit of support – but Simon, Louis, Cheryl and Danni have all been there.
Speaking about the X Factor house, Diana also revealed who her daughter gets on with best: "Mary. She’s amazing! If Katie needs a 'mummy cuddle', that’s where she goes."
