Simon Cowell has not chosen Cheryl Cole for the judging panel of the US version of 'The X Factor', according to reports.
Heat magazine claims that producers at Fox have insisted on having a celebrity judge who is already very well known in the US.
A source said: "Cheryl's gutted. She knows Simon really well and can sense when something's wrong."
"Last year he secretly told her that she was a definite for US judge. But now he's admitted that he can no longer make that firm commitment."
"The reality is, he's started to agree with the US bosses who say they simply don't 'get her'."
"He finds it difficult to fight her corner, especially when there are so many other elements he needs to focus on when launching the new show."
"There is just far too much at stake. Whenever her name came up in meetings, things became very heated."
"The bigwigs simply wouldn't get over Simon potentially jeopardising the success of the show by having a celebrity unknown to the American public, instead of the likes of the super-famous Mariah Carey, who is their preferred choice."
