Louis Walsh has suggested that Mary Byrne fly home to Ballyfermot to clear her head ahead of this weekend's X Factor.
According to The Star, Walsh has admitted that the 51-year-old needs a break from the show after she had a meltdown at the weekend.
He said: "I've advised her to take a day off and go home and get her head together. You've got no idea of the kind of pressure that is put on everyone.
"It's just one big cauldron and she needs a break to get away from it. She needs a new perspective on things."
He added: "She can only get a day off but I told her it would be good for her. I'm not sure if she will go home but I think it would be best if she did."
Speaking about her performance on Saturday nights show she said: "She kind of messed up, which is not like Mary, and she gave herself a hard time over it.
"The whole problem is that she's overtired and desperately missing her home and her daughter."
Talking about Byrne's future chances in the competition, Walsh said: "There is still plenty of time for her to pull it back."
