X Factor's Katie Waissel is reportedly on the brink of quitting the show after a series of panic attacks.
According to the Daily Mail the 24-year-old contestant, who narrowly avoided elimination from the talent show on Sunday, has said she ‘can’t carry on’ and yesterday remained in bed for much of the day.
The rest of the contestants were made to wait at the studios where they were due to shoot a video for the cover version of the David Bowie classic 'Heroes'.
A show source said: "She’s very fragile and we are very concerned. We are considering asking her to step aside because it is really affecting the show. She would still be able to do the X Factor tour if she is strong enough. Her well-being is our priority.
"She has been in tears and saying she can’t carry on. Producers gave Katie maximum opportunity to turn up, but had to shoot some scenes without her.
"When she did arrive, she was given a very icy reception by her fellow contestants. Katie was really hurt by the reaction because she had been up all night, having panic attacks, and crying hysterically."
Yesterday, her parents Diana and Maurice were allowed into the contestants’ house to comfort her and she was given round-the-clock care by medical professionals after another sleepless night, partly due to a chest infection.
