Crystal Swing singer Derek Burke has spoken of his delight at winning the RTÉ GAA series 'Celebrity Bainisteoir' with his team, Kerry’s Castleisland Desmonds.
Viewers of the RTÉ One show saw Burke and Castleisland Desmonds beat radio presenter Mairéad Farrell and her Ballymun Kickhams in Sunday night's final episode 1-08 to 1-07.
Both bainisteoirí had been mentored by GAA legends: former Dublin football star Ciarán Whelan mentored Farrell and her Ballymun team, while Kerryman Liam Kearns mentored Burke and his Castleisland team.
Speaking after their victory, Burke said: "I'm absolutely thrilled that we won. The team put so much work into this game and I'm so proud of each and everyone one of them. I'd like to commend Mairéad and the Ballymun Kickhams team, who played a great game."
