Stephen Fry has been in hot water this weekend over controversial comments he made in a magazine interview as well as posting images from the Harry Potter set on his Twitter account.

His account, which reads no longer is service, suggests he has quit the micro-blogging site.

The actor was shooting scenes on a neighbouring set in Leavesden studios in Hertfordshire when he dropped by the Harry Potter set and took the pictures which he later posted on his account for his 1.9 million followers on Thursday.

The images were later removed and the actor, writer and TV presenter tweeted "Oops. I’ve been sent to the naughty step?" He tweeted the following day "shall be a good boy on set today. *Sticks gaffer-tape over camera lens* Heigh ho."

Fry has also come in for criticism for comments he made about female sexuality in an interview with Attitude magazine, according to the Observer.

In the interview he said he "find it difficult to believe that women are as interested in sex as they are." Fry said "If women liked sex as much as men, there would be straight cruising areas in the way there are gay cruising areas."

He added: "I feel sorry for straight men. The only reason women will have sex with them is that sex is the price they are willing to pay for a relationship with a man, which is what they want."

Fry responded to the criticism which followed on Twitter saying
"So some ***&ing paper misquotes a humorous interview I gave, which itself misquoted me and now I'm the Antichrist. I give up." he said. "Bye bye."
