TV presenter Amanda Byram is set to wed her long-term boyfriend Craig McMullen after he popped the question last week.

The Herald reports that Byram accepted her sportsman's hand in marriage on the spot, when he surprised her by going down on one knee in a romantic proposal last Monday, October 11.

The 'Total Wipeout' presenter (36) was due to jet out to Argentina - where she is currently shooting the BBC gameshow series - just hours later.

The couple have been dating for two-and-a-half years and the paper reports that those close to Amanda have revealed how she was completely stunned by her other half's romantic gesture.

"She's absolutely over the moon and has already begun discussing possible wedding venues," said a pal.

"They're hoping to plan the wedding for next summer so there's no time to delay, particularly with Amanda away for the next few months.

"Craig popped the question just a few hours before she was due to take off for Argentina so she hasn't had a chance to celebrate with family or friends yet."

They added: "They're planning to have a belated party to celebrate their engagement when she gets home before Christmas, as it will also coincide with her 37th birthday."

Mullen is a former Leicester rugby player and originally hails from Sydney, Australia. He has been concentrating on managing and coaching teams after being struck by injury in recent years.

Amanda, who used to date comedian Patrick Kielty and still remains on good terms with him, was first introduced to her future husband at her best friend's wedding in the summer of 2008.
"She had actually been trying to set us up for six years," Amanda explained.

"He was in a neck brace when I met him and if I fell in love with him wearing that, I'm sure it's real love."
