Christine Bleakley may be set to leave the set of Daybreak by Christmas, according to one report.

The Daily Mail reports that the 31-year-old co-presenter of the show, alongside Adrian Chiles, is "upset and frustrated" by the dramatic decline in ratings the show has experienced since its launch. It is currently being viewed by half those tuning into its BBC rival, 'BBC Breakfast'. Daybreak had an average of 700,000 viewers on Tuesday compared to the BBC’s 1.4 million.

The report claims that ITV chiefs have given the show’s producers a few months to work on the programme before they step in.

A source is quoted as saying "Christine is extremely frustrated that Daybreak’s ratings aren’t improving. The biggest problem is that if she did leave Daybreak, ITV can’t exactly conjure a hit prime-time show for her out of thin air.

"She is ambitious and her reason for leaving the BBC was that she thought Daybreak would make her career more high profile. Christine is upset – but she knows that she has to stick it out for the time being. The annoying thing is that even though ratings are down, she and Adrian seem to be a lot calmer on the show and not so nervous."

The former One Show presenter left the BBC in June after signing a deal with ITV joining her former colleague Chiles.
