Sales director Dan Harris was the first candidate to be voted off 'The Apprentice' by Lord Sugar last night.

The 34-year-old from Oxfordshire said he had to watch most of the show from behind a pillow.

He led the men’s team last night in a task which involved making sausages and then selling them. The women’s team, who opted to produce a higher quality product, won the task by just £15.

He said: "I spent most of the time watching that episode behind a pillow. Cringeworthy moments on it, certainly. I think I took quite a strong leadership style, I don't know if you picked up on that."

That "strong leadership style" did not go down well with his team, with fellow contestant Raleigh Addington describing him as being "like a bull in a china shop".

When his team lost he chose to bring team-mates Stuart Baggs and Alex Epstein back into the boardroom claiming Baggs’ selling style was over the top and Epstein failed to contribute apart from frying some sausages.

But Baggs never expected to lose, boasting: "I'm going to bring my suitcase today and I'm not to pack a single thing in it. It is going to be completely empty because I'm not going home today."

Lord Sugar took issues with Harris’s minimal contributed to the sale effort with Harris explaining that he chose to focus on leading the team.

Lord Sugar said: "You didn't run them very well. The point is that the sub-team, of which you were the leader, sold naff all."

Lord Sugar told him: "You had your chance and you blew it. Dan, you're fired."
